Robert Don Gifford represents clientele in a broad range of complex civil and white collar criminal litigation, Native American law, and military law in courts of all jurisdictions. He represents companies in preparing criminal compliance guidelines and corporate criminal risk assessments, as well as individuals charged with state and federal violations.
Robert Gifford is an accomplished trial lawyer and founding member of GIFFORD LAW, P.L.L.C. and serves as “Of Counsel” with Sullivent and Fontanez practicing in the areas of civil rights, white collar/criminal defense, Family Law, Native American Law, and complex civil litigation in federal, state, military, and tribal courts. A former federal prosecutor in Oklahoma City where he served as Human Trafficking Coordinator and a Tribal Liaison for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He also previously served as the Anti-terrorism Advisory Coordinator, CARE Court team (re-entry court), and the Project Safe Neighborhoods Coordinator.
A tribal member of the Cherokee Nation and a former editor on the American Indian Law Review at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Mr. Gifford also serves as the Chief Judge for both the Kaw Nation and Iowa Tribes, an Associate Judge for both the Miami Tribe and Seminole Tribe, and a Justice on the Comanche Nation Supreme Court.
Gifford is also a retired Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves, a Special Municipal Judge for Oklahoma City and an adjunct law professor at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, and the University of Arkansas. Previously served as a federal prosecutor in Nevada, as an Assistant D.A. in Tulsa County, on active duty as an Army JAG in various locations, and for the Cherokee Nation under Chief Wilma Mankiller.
